Democrats want to exploit the power of the Swifties in Miami-Dade

MIAMI GARDENS, Florida. – Swifties show their love for glitter and friendship bracelets during the three days of the Taylor Swift Eras Tour at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. They don't just affect traffic. The hospitality industry serves them with themed events and the Kamala Harris campaign is trying to engage with them.

The Democratic National Committee celebrated when Taylor Swift announced on Instagram on September 10 that she had been watching the debate between the vice president and former President Donald Trump and deciding who she would support this November.

The 14-time Grammy winner posted a portrait with one of her cats to criticize Trump's vice presidential nominee JD Vance's criticism of “childless cat ladies” and “weird cat ladies,” signing her statement as “Taylor Swift childless cat lady” after she she had encouraged fans to register to vote.

“I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election. I'm voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes that I believe need a warrior to stand up for them. I think she is a level-headed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country when we let calm, not chaos, guide us. I was so encouraged and impressed by her choice as Vice President @timwalz, who has advocated for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF and a woman's right to her own body for decades,” she wrote.

For Swifties who will vote in Florida, Florida Student Power activists have hung a billboard along northbound Interstate 95 with a message in white over pink urging them to “shake off” the abortion ban and vote “Yes.” to vote for Amendment 4 DNC also has a mobile billboard on a boat and a new “Be Fearless” Snapchat filter.

On Friday night, the Swifties enjoyed 49 songs, including a surprise “Florida!!!” duet with English singer-songwriter Florence Welch. During her “1989”-era performance, she connected University of Miami fans with her “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” – “Pero, like never” in an orange and green outfit and 305 Spanglish speakers. Fans also noticed that Taylor Swift swapped the black and red Reputation jumpsuit she wore at 131 shows for a black and gold snake bodysuit during her performance of “Look What You Made Me Do.”

With this in mind, the DNC launched the Taylor Swift-themed “I Will Vote” campaign.

“This election will determine the future of young voters, from student loan debt relief to economic opportunity to whether they have fewer rights than their grandmothers,” DNC communications director Rosemary Boeglin said in a statement.
