Detroit Lions WR Jameson Williams faces a two-game suspension, per report

Jameson Williams is in the midst of a breakout season in 2024, but the Detroit Lions wide receiver is now reportedly facing a two-game suspension.

According to ESPN's Eric Woodyard, Williams' possible suspension is due to a violation of the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Williams told Woodyard that he had “no choice but to turn it around,” adding, “I'm in good spirits and ready to get back to my brothers as soon as possible.”

With the Alabama product sidelined, the Lions need veteran wideouts Tim Patrick and Kalif Raymond to step up. Patrick has done a good job this season becoming Detroit's No. 3 prospect. The Lions also have Isaiah Williams and Allen Robinson on the roster and both could score more runs.

A first-round pick of the Lions in 2022, Williams' career got off to a slow start in his first two seasons. However, Williams turned things around in 2024 and became the No. 2 player in Detroit's passing attack behind Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Williams totaled 17 receptions for 361 yards and three touchdowns in six games, with all three ranking second on the team.

It goes without saying that his loss is a major blow to the Lions' offense, but Detroit is also well positioned with its positional depth and arsenal of weapons to survive two games without Williams.
