Even though the Detroit Tigers' surprising playoff series came to an end over the weekend, the accolades are still piling up.

Catcher Jake Rogers was named a Gold Glove finalist on Tuesday, Rawlings announced, which sponsors the award to recognize MLB's best outfielders.

The Gold Glove winners will be announced on November 3rd.

For Rogers, it's the first time he's been a Gold Glove finalist, in his second full season as the Tigers' primary catcher. According to Fangraphs, he ranked fourth among AL catchers in defensive runs saved and second in defensive runs above replacements with 13.

Rogers was particularly adept at framing, the practice of producing attack calls by attaching gloves. No AL catcher was better, according to Fangraphs' framing runs metric, where Rogers scored 13.6 runs with his glove, ahead of Seattle's Cal Raleigh (12.9) and New York's Austin Wells (10.5). .

Raleigh is also a Gold Glove finalist alongside Kansas City's Freddy Fermin. The two had the most DRS with 16, although Fermin's framing was actually negative, accounting for minus 0.5 runs.

However, another Tiger fielder was snubbed into the Gold Glove finalists: Riley Greene, who led all AL left fielders with 14 DRS, was dropped in favor of Baltimore's Colton Cowser, Cleveland's Steven Kwan and New York's Alex Verdugo with four, nine and 4 DRS missed seven DRS each, according to Fangraphs.

No Tiger has won a Gold Glove since second baseman Ian Kinsler was honored in 2016. Zach McKinstry was a finalist at the utility position last season, losing to Houston's Mauricio Dubón, and Jonathan Schoop was a finalist at second base in 2022, losing to Cleveland's Andrés Giménez.

Former Tiger Willi Castro, who played at least 27 games at five different positions for Minnesota this season, is a finalist at the utility position this year.
