Dodgers shortstop Tommy Edman named 2024 NLCS MVP

LOS ANGELES – Tommy Edman drove in four runs in the decisive Game 6 pennant game for the Dodgers on Sunday night and was named NLCS MVP for his outstanding series against the Mets.

Edman was 11 for 27 during the series, hitting .407/.393/.630 with three doubles and a home run in six games. After driving in three runs with two doubles in Game 4 in New York, Edman hit a home run and a double in Sunday's decisive game.

His 11 RBI tied a Dodgers record for any postseason series, matching Maury Wills and Ron Fairly in the 1965 World Series and Bill Russell – who threw out the first pitch before Game 6 on Sunday – in the 1978 World Series.

Edman's 11 hits also tied a Dodgers postseason record for a series, tying Corey Seager from the 2020 NLCS.

Acquired from the Cardinals at the trade deadline in a three-team deal, Edman helped stabilize the lineup when he returned from the injured list in mid-August. The switch-hitter played both center field and shortstop as needed. With Miguel Rojas out for the NLCS with a torn adductor muscle, Edman played every inning at shortstop during the series.

Next up for Edman and the Dodgers is the World Series against the Yankees, which begins Friday at Dodger Stadium.
