Donald Trump, 78, boasts he's “nowhere near 80.”

Former President Donald Trump went on the defensive about his mental fitness for office at a rally in Pennsylvania on Sunday – insisting he's “not that close to 80” and again calling for cognitive testing for presidential candidates.

Vice President Kamala Harris and their deputies then tried to portray Trump as mentally unfit for office strange moments on stage at rallies and events cancelled Interviews. Last week, Politico's Playbook reported that Trump canceled events due to “exhaustion” as the 2024 campaign season entered its final two weeks.

“When you're exhausted on the campaign trail, you question whether you're fit for the toughest job in the world,” Harris said told supporters at a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Friday.

On Sunday, Trump cited a report in The Wall Street Journal published on Friday after a sit-down interview with the newspaper's editorial team. The board, which included well-known Trump critics such as Peggy Noonan, said the former president showed no signs of mental decline during the interview. They also said he seemed “more confident” and “certainly more knowledgeable about politics than he did in 2015.”

“The one thing they said was great: 'We've watched this guy for 20 years, the only thing we know is he doesn't have any cognitive problems,'” Trump told host Sage Steele. “Maybe she has a cognitive problem,” he quickly interjected, drawing cheers from a crowd of fans in Lancaster.

Trump continued to reiterate his call for a “cognitive test” for anyone running for president, but stressed that this was not due to concerns about aging.

“Some of the greatest leaders in the world – and I'm not 80 and not even close to 80 – but in the case of Biden, he's 81 or 82,” Trump said. “And you know, that's fine, because I know people who are incredibly successful – a very successful man, by the way, is Rupert Murdoch, and he's 93 or 94.”

President Biden will turn 82 in November. Murdoch, the owner of News Corporation, which owns it Wall Street Journal Publisher Dow Jones & Company, is 93.

Trump praised the Australian-born media mogul, emphasizing, “He's as sharp as can be.” I mean, he's the same guy I've known for 25 to 30 years. He's sharp and he's in his 90s. We had some of the greatest leaders in world history who were over 80 years old.”

Harris' campaign quickly seized on Trump's recent tendencies, emphasizing on stage that the Republican candidate “seemed to have forgotten his age” and again calling on him to release his age Medical records.
