DreamWorks is planning the sequel to its acclaimed blockbuster hit “The Wild Robot”

It looks like we'll be seeing more of ROZZUM Unit 7134 and her animal friends in the future. DreamWorks is planning a sequel to its critically acclaimed global hit The wild robot. The film's director, Chris Sanders, announced the news at the Deadline Contenders panel this morning. “100% yes, there are definitely plans for a second one,” said the director.

The film, which was one of the biggest hits of the season, has grossed over $107.6 million worldwide since its release in late September and has a stellar 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Directed and written by three-time Oscar nominee Chris Sanders (How to Train Your Dragon, The Croods, Lilo & Stitch), The wild robot based on Peter Brown's bestselling trilogy. The image was taken by Jeff Hermann (The Boss Baby 2, Kung Fu Panda). The film features the voices of Lupita Nyong'o, Pedro Pascal, Kit Connor, Catherine O'Hara, Mark Hamill, Bill Nighy and Stephanie Hsu. Brown's second book in the series was published in 2017 and is entitled The wild robot escapes.

During the Deadline Contenders session, Nyong'o, who voices the film's central robot character Roz, also joked that she was inspired by AI voices like Alexa and Siri. She said: “Alexa, Siri and you know those voices on TikTok and Instagram that are so positive and say nothing is ever wrong. That kind of can-do attitude… That was the starting point for Roz and her journey to self-realization and development of self-expression.”
