Duval Rundown: What's next for Brian Thomas Jr. and Tank Bigsby?

Check out Episode 17 of Duval Rundown, hosted by Gus Logue.

Gus was joined by 1010XL's Mia O'Brien for a live broadcast of the Week 6 game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears.

Specifically: How can Brian Thomas Jr. and Tank Bigsby build on last week's great performances in this international game against a strong defense?

“There are guys in the NBA who can just step in and give you a couple of threes. But especially in the playoffs it doesn't matter how well you play. You need a few people – not just one, but a few people who can get you a bucket.

“And that’s what I want to see from both Brian Thomas Jr. and Tank Bigsby. It was great to see that 85-yarder, but (Thomas Jr.) was also wide open. And that was the type of game you expected Thomas Jr. to have when he came into the NFL with the great speed stat you mentioned. Just a walking big play waiting to happen.

“I want to see if he can be more consistent, like he showed last week by picking up 9 yards on a first-down wide receiver screen and then making a nice catch on a throw that was behind him , but is behind him.” Protect him from an incoming hit over the middle on a dig route and get a first hit down there.

“Being able to get a lot of first downs — especially on third downs when the defense knows they have to do that — when the offense needs a basket, he can go out and perform and the tenacious, hard-fought players “What first downs does the team need to set up those deep shots?

“We saw a little bit of Evan Engram, especially Christian Kirk in the role of third-down man and chain leader. But I think if Brian Thomas Jr. can not only be the guy that gives you juice with an 85-yard catch, but also be the guy that consistently moves the chains for you and gives you a basket for that matter provided, then the case would be huge.

“If he doesn’t show that for the rest of the season, it’s not a big problem. I think he just turned 22 yesterday and already more than anyone could ask for. But that would be the next step I'm looking for for him. And that's exactly what I expect from him again this week because it's just such a good Bears defense that doesn't allow much. In this type of matchup, you just need that ability to get the bucket.”
