Eli Manning is “the best big-game QB I’ve ever seen”

Former New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin extolled the virtues of his former quarterback Eli Manning on a recent episode of Barstool Sports. Pardon my opinion.

“Look at his eyes,” Coughlin said when asked if he knew Eli would be up to the challenge during the Giants’ two Super Bowl runs in 2007 and 2011. “He’s the greatest big-game quarterback I’ve ever seen.”

Coughlin explained that Eli knew the odds were stacked against him against the likes of Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, but he never backed down.

“He accepted the challenge. He wanted the challenge. He wanted this,” Coughlin said. “Call it his family tree, call it whatever you want. You talk about making plays when he had to make them… Look at Super Bowl 46, (Mario) Manningham's catch. Eli is back there maneuvering to get the ball away in that situation and made that throw.

“You talk about big play, big game people… I’ll take him.”

The big question now is whether the Pro Football Hall of Fame will agree when it votes on the Class of 2025 later this year.
