Eva Mendes would return to acting if she were alongside Ryan Gosling

Eva Mendes says the only way to convince her to return to acting is if she's alongside her husband Ryan Gosling.

It's been a decade since Mendes retired from acting. Her last role was a small part in Gosling's feature film debut Lost River. However, the actress's final credit was lending her voice to a 2021 episode Bluish.

“I was never in love with acting. I don't mean this in a self-deprecating way, but I wasn't a great actress. I've had moments where I've worked with really great people,” she said in an interview with UK's Sunday Times.

Mendes says her best work came alongside Gosling in films like Lost River And The place Beyond the Pinesthe 2012 film in which they first met.

“He brings something out of me that has never been accessible before,” she said.

In her 16-year on-screen career, Mendes appeared in several films including The other boys, Hitch And Girl in work.

Since then, she has focused on raising her and Gosling's two daughters and other career opportunities.

However, she still occasionally gives acting tips to Gosling, who has starred in films like Barbie, The Notebook And La La Land.

“I would just simplify everything. I say, 'Just get Barbie noticed, that's what Ken is all about.' Then there was this desperation. He really liked that,” Mendes said. “As he's literally walking out the door, I want to remind him, 'Let Barbie notice you, let Barbie fall in love with you.'”
