Every Destination in America Is Closed for 24 Hours: Here's Why

Every Destination in America Is Closed for 24 Hours: Here's Why

In the difficult economic climate we currently find ourselves in, it is difficult to imagine a company willingly giving up revenue.

That's exactly what Target plans to do this Thanksgiving, as the company once again becomes one of the few major retailers to close all doors on Thanksgiving Day so employees can spend more time with their families.

The official statement that Target released to prepare all customers to get what they need from the giant retailer before Thanksgiving Day is as follows.

“Keeping our stores closed on Thanksgiving is possible because we have built our team – and Target's strong business model – to meet our guests' holiday needs both during and well outside of store hours.”

This is a fairly new thing for Target as they just started closing all of their doors for 24 hours on Thanksgiving last year.

If you don't think this has an impact on you, you may be one of only two out of ten people who aren't customers. That's right, 8 out of 10 residents of the United States are Target shoppers.

Target is not alone. If you tell yourself you'll get what you need at Walmart last minute for Thanksgiving, think again. Walmart will also be closed on Thanksgiving.

At Target.com, they boast about how meaningful this day is for their employees by sharing some of their testimonials. A staff member offered the following:

“My daughters and I open our home to anyone who would like to participate in our Thanksgiving celebration. Family, friends and neighbors come together for a big meal of turkey, wings, cornbread, kale and mac and cheese. After dinner we draw names for Secret Santa gifts, and we end the day with homemade banana pudding.

While everyone is losing money, including employees, people are willing to put money aside to spend time with their families. An amazing feeling.
