Fans from Texas and Oklahoma will finally get their wish for an improved Cotton Bowl in Dallas

The Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners will face off again next weekend in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas in one of college football's most storied rivalries.

In other words, it's almost time for this year's Red River Shootout.

While the changes as part of the Cotton Bowl's $140 million renovation won't be obvious next weekend, a complete renovation of the stadium is expected by 2025, including additional escalators, an expanded concourse, remodels of restrooms and concession areas . and, perhaps most appropriately for 2024, a better Wi-Fi signal at the stadium.

“…it is a significant achievement for the entire team. This is important because we haven't improved this building nearly as much in 60 years. “It’s a great investment for the city of Dallas,” said Bryan Trubey, a spokesman during the project’s construction phase Dallas Morning News.

Trubey referred to the project as the largest investment in the history of the 94-year-old stadium.

“In my opinion, it's one of the signature elements of the entire city – the iconic Cotton Bowl,” Ryan O'Connor, associate director of partnerships and strategic initiatives at Dallas Park and Recreation, told DFW's Channel 5 earlier this year. “That’s why it’s important that we continue to value it, invest in it and ensure it has a great future.”

The final renovations are expected to be completed in 2025.
