In an Instagram reel filmed during preseason and shared jointly by the 49-year-old singer and the hit NBC show, Michael revealed the country singer and ex-singer Agree trainer Blake SheltoN was the one who convinced him that he should join the show.

“You know, I love Blake and he's a great friend and he talked me into it. To be honest, he talked me into it. And a big part of that was the people they brought with them,” Michael says in the clip.

Blake, who was one of the original four trainers when the series premiered in 2011 and is now married to current trainer Gwen, left the series in May 2023 after 23 seasons (making him the series' longest-serving original trainer).
