Flawless pass protection set up the big day for Jordan Love

“It was just guys out there making plays,” LaFleur said, admitting he didn’t give Love particularly good play-calling against that blitz.

But it proved to be the perfect way to pay a defense to become overly aggressive out of desperation for not getting close to the quarterback early in the game.

“Usually it's pretty frustrating,” LaFleur said of Arizona feeling forced to blitz, “when the guy back there is making a pizza and has a lot of time to throw.”

The play looked like one from a few weeks ago against the Vikings that didn't go so well when Love threw a free rusher in the face that was intercepted.

The difference? The Vikings, who were leading the game at the time, surprised the Packers with this blitz, and their downfield defender faced Love as he threw, allowing him to see and follow the ball.

Late in the third quarter on Sunday, the Packers were ready for any attack from the Cardinals, and the defense had their backs the entire time.

Whatever the case, it was also important that Love was much closer to full strength after his knee injury in Week 1 than playing with it for the first time against the Vikings.

“I felt like… my normal self,” Love said.

This is perhaps the most important thing of all.
