UAlbany and Elon have a short history, with three all-time meetings dating back to 2016. The Great Danes won the first dual in Albany this year, with Elon coming out on top in two road contests in 2017 and 2022.

The Phoenix are off to a 1-5 start this season and have lost 0-2 so far in CAA play. The team's only win came in a Week 2 road game at North Carolina Central with a 41-19 victory. Non-conference losses came for Duke, Western Carolina and ETSU, while CAA losses came for Richmond and New Hampshire.

Elon averaged 17.00 points per game while the defense allowed 24.50 points per game.

At quarterback, redshirt senior Matthew Downing leads the team with 757 passing yards and completed 66-104 attempts for three touchdowns. Redshirt junior Jack Salopek started in the Phoenix's last game against New Hampshire and completed 17-29 passes for 185 yards. It was his fourth appearance this season, seeing limited snaps against Duke and ETSU and plenty against Richmond. Jamarien Dalton has the most receptions this season (25), followed by Chandler Brayboy (23). Dalton accounted for 323 yards and two touchdowns, Brayboy for 313 yards and one touchdown.

On the ground, TK Thomas Jr. and Rushawn Baker took the majority of the reps. Thomas Jr. rushed for 444 yards on 69 attempts with four touchdowns. Baker rushed for 204 yards on 63 carries and two touchdowns.

On the defensive side of the ball, Caleb Curtain leads the team with 38 total tackles, followed by Marco Patierno with 36. Kahmari Brown leads the team with 3.0 sacks, followed by Cazeem Moore with 2.0. Five different players are tied with 1.0 sacks each. In the backfield, five different players recorded an INT, led by Curtain with six PBUs.
