Former Cavs star's twin sons are committing to Duke basketball, their father's alma mater

MIAMI – Cameron and Cayden Boozer, five-star high school basketball prospects and twin sons of two-time NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer, have committed to play college basketball at Duke, their father's alma mater .

Cameron, a 6-foot-9 power forward at Christopher Columbus High School in Miami, is the No. 2 boys basketball prospect in the ESPN 100 Class of 2025 rankings. Cayden, a 6-4 point guard, is ranked 17th.

The Boozer brothers announced their commitment to Duke via a YouTube video in collaboration with The Players' Tribune.

“Cameron Crazies, get ready for next season,” Cayden says in the video, addressing the Duke student section, which is named after its home stadium, Cameron Indoor Stadium.

“Yes sir, Duke Nation, baby,” Cameron adds.

The Boozer brothers will be Duke's first commitment in 2025, according to ESPN. They also considered Miami, Kentucky, Florida and Arkansas, according to 247Sports.

“I'm proud of her. They worked hard for this moment,” Cameron and Cayden’s father Carlos told ESPN. “Really thrilled that they took the time. I decided to play together in college, which is great. They both complement each other so well. You have made the best decision for you. Me and my mother couldn't be prouder. It’s going to be a fun trip.”

A college standout at Duke, Carlos was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round of the 2002 NBA Draft. The 13-year NBA veteran played his first two seasons in Cleveland, the last of which was alongside then-Cavs rookie phenom LeBron James. He then played the next 11 seasons for the Utah Jazz, where he was selected to the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers All-Stars in consecutive seasons in 2007 and 2008.

The Boozer brothers have led Christopher Columbus HS to three consecutive Florida 7A state championships under coach Andrew Moran.

Last season as a junior, Cameron was named MaxPreps High School Basketball National Junior of the Year after averaging 22.3 points, 11.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.1 blocks per game for the Explorers. He was also named to the 2023-24 MaxPreps All-America First Team and was the only junior to make the first team.

In July 2023, the Boozer brothers led their AAU team Nightrydas Elite to a first place finish at the Nike Peach Jam tournament in Augusta, Georgia. Cayden scored 23 points on 9 of 14 shooting with five assists, three rebounds and three steals in the championship game, while Cameron dropped five points and seven rebounds as they defeated Maine United 58-50.
