According to WGN, former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler was arrested for driving under the influence on Thursday night in Franklin, Tennessee.

According to police, Cutler, 41, was involved in a minor traffic accident after allegedly rear-ending another vehicle. He reportedly slurred his speech and refused to take field sobriety tests before he was taken to a local hospital and a blood sample was taken on a warrant.

When police searched Cutler's car, two weapons were found in his possession, including a loaded handgun.

Cutler allegedly offered the other driver $2,000 not to call the police and then attempted to leave the scene.

Cutler was later taken into custody and charged with drunken driving, failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision, implied consent and possession of a handgun under the influence.

After being booked into the Williamson County Jail, Cutler was released on $5,000 bail.

Cutler was selected by the Denver Broncos with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2006 draft out of Vanderbilt. He played 12 years in the NFL with the Broncos, Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins. He retired after the 2017 season.
