Former NFL RB no longer believes in Steelers QB Justin Fields after three games

The Pittsburgh Steelers are off to a 3-0 start to the season with Justin Fields under center while Russell Wilson continues to recover from his calf injury. And it looks like Fields will start again in Week 4, as Wilson is questionable after another week of limited practice.

Fields certainly didn't rock the world in his first three starts with the Steelers, completing 73.3% of his passes for 518 yards and two touchdowns per pick while also adding 90 rushing yards and another touchdown.

But it was enough, thanks to an elite Steelers defense. It's also worth noting that kicker Chris Boswell played a major role in Pittsburgh's impressive start.

After watching Fields for three games, former NFL running back and FOX Sports 1 analyst LeSean McCoy is not impressed.

“We talk about Justin Fields all the time like he’s the vehicle of his team, a game-changer,” McCoy said at The Facility. “We talk about him more than we talk about Josh Allen leading a team, and then we really dissect the team, look at the tape and look at the stats. Any quarterback in America can do it. Daniel Jones, as bad as I think. “It's him, I think he'll be a winning quarterback in his system and then we can move on, right?”

It's true that Fields wasn't the main reason for the Steelers' 3-0 start, but he did a good job taking care of the football and playing a complementary role to Pittsburgh's defense.

That will almost always be enough to beat some of the NFL's weaker teams, but the Steelers will need more if they really want to make an impact this season.

It remains to be seen whether the Steelers will stick with Fields once Wilson is healthy, but if Fields keeps the job and doesn't answer the bell when more is needed from him, Wilson will get his chance at center.
