With Halloween just around the corner, another Hunter's Moon is coming, the biggest and brightest of all time. This moon comes after September's Harvest Moon, the third of four consecutive supermoons this year.

According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, the Hunter's Moon will peak at 7:26 a.m. EST on Thursday, October 17th.

What is a Supermoon?

A supermoon is a full moon that appears larger and brighter than usual because it is closer to Earth in its orbit.

Why is it called the Hunter's Moon?

The Hunter's Moon is the first full moon to occur after the Harvest Moon, usually in October or November. It got its name because it signaled that one should prepare for the upcoming winter by hunting. Additionally, animals were more visible because most crops were cut down around the time of the harvest moon.

What will the weather be like during the peak?

According to the National Weather Service, Thursday will be clear in the Detroit area with high temperatures near 60 degrees. In the evening temperatures are expected to drop to around 35 degrees.
