Gautam Gambhir received messages from KKR fans thanking him after Harshit Rana was not selected for the third and final T20I against Bangladesh.

India's third T20I against Bangladesh was expected to mark the debut of fast bowler Harshit Rana, who has been waiting for an opportunity to represent his country for several weeks. According to reports, he was supposed to get his chance in Hyderabad but a viral fever has limited and postponed his destination for now.

However, what was significant for the IPL was that this was the last opportunity for Harshit Rana to get a cap before the auction deadline on October 31, and Harshit remaining capless means he will go to the Kolkata Knight Riders, with whom he works together, is available at a reduced price He won the 2024 edition of the tournament.

As per the new rules, players without international caps can play for 4 Cr. INR will be retained, which is well below the minimum of 11 Cr. for international players and players with international matches this year. Additionally, uncapped players have the flexibility to allow teams to add another capped player to their retention list, which would allow title-winning KKR to retain much of their Championship core from last year.

Social media users were quick to take advantage of the small advantage that Harshit's unfortunate illness gave him his IPL franchise, particularly pointing out that Indian coach Gautam Gambhir was previously coach of KKR and that he has another exciting one in Mayank Yadav Sailor made his debut in this series.

India are 2-0 up in the series

India go into this game with Mayank as the sole frontline pacer, with Hardik Pandya and Nitish Kumar Reddy also likely to contribute with their all-round skills. Ravi Bishnoi was also awarded a comeback to the team in the only change in the team.

India have already secured a series win by winning the first two games, both in relatively comfortable fashion. While Mayank has impressed in his first two games in Indian colors, fans will not get the chance to see the two Delhi pacers in tandem yet.

Harshit Rana has also been included in the squad list announced today as a reserve bowler for the Test series against New Zealand. This series begins soon after the end of this T20 series with the two teams beginning their three-match clash at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Bengaluru.
