Get a free Krispy Kreme donut at McDonald's: Here's how

Krispy Kreme is coming to McDonald's: as part of the offer you get a free donut.

Earlier this year, the companies unveiled a plan to bring Krispy Kreme donuts to local McDonald's restaurants in a “phased rollout,” with the goal of achieving nationwide availability at participating restaurants by the end of 2026.

Here's the first step: Krispy Kreme will begin delivering Original Glazed and other fresh donuts to McDonald's locations in the Chicago area starting Tuesday, October 15th.

To celebrate the partnership, participating Krispy Kreme locations nationwide will be giving customers a free Krispy Kreme Original Glazed Donut from Thursday through October 14th when they present a McDonald's paper or digital receipt from October 10th through October 14th .

“The number one request we receive from consumers is greater access to our delicious, fresh donuts,” Krispy Kreme President and CEO Josh Charlesworth said in a press release. “Having Krispy Kreme Donuts among the Golden Arches is worth its weight in gold to our fans and we’re excited to celebrate by giving our guests who also visit a McDonald’s a free Original Glazed Donut.”

Krispy Kreme and McDonald's plan a partnership

Krispy Kreme expects to have fresh daily donuts in more than 1,000 McDonald's restaurants by the end of 2024 and 12,000 locations by the end of 2026, the company said.

The two companies began a donut test last year at 160 McDonald's restaurants in the Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky, areas. These pilot restaurants will continue to serve Krispy Kreme donuts during the nationwide rollout, the companies said.

The donut flavors will be available at Chicago-area McDonald's starting October 15 and are available all day while supplies last:

  • Original glazed donut.
  • Donut with chocolate icing and sprinkles.
  • The Kreme donut filled with chocolate ice cream.
