EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — New York Giants left tackle Andrew Thomas will miss the rest of the season after undergoing foot surgery on Wednesday, a person with knowledge of the injury told The Associated Press.

The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the team had not announced the surgery on Thomas, who was injured in a 17-7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals last weekend.

Coach Brian Daboll was scheduled to address the media later Wednesday before the Giants (2-4) begin practice Sunday for their home game against the Philadelphia Eagles (3-2).

The person said Thomas underwent surgery to repair a Lisfranc injury. NFL Network was first to report the operation.

It's not clear how the Giants will replace Thomas, who signed a five-year, $117.5 million contract in 2023.

The most likely option would be to move Jermaine Eluemunor from right tackle to the left side and then insert either Evan Neal or Joshua Ezeudu on the right side. Neal has been the starting right tackle since being selected seventh overall in 2022. He had problems on the field and missed the later part of last season and the start of training camp because of ankle surgery.
