Guy crashes a 0,000 sports car while streaming and is banned for life

Popular YouTuber and Kick streamer Jack Doherty made headlines over the weekend after crashing his expensive sports car into a guardrail. The crash occurred during a livestream on Kick and he was permanently banned from the platform.

On October 5, 21-year-old Doherty crashed his customized (and very expensive) McLaren 570S during a live broadcast. In video footage shared online, the content creator with over 1 million YouTube subscribers can be seen checking and using his phone shortly before the crash. The pavement Doherty was driving on was also wet from the rain, which likely contributed to him spinning out of control and crashing into a guardrail on the right side of the highway, barely able to avoid other cars on the road. Now NBC reports that Kick has permanently banned the creator.

On October 6, NBC reported that a Kick spokesperson confirmed that the streaming service – an Amazon-owned competitor to Twitch – had banned Doherty because of his behavior, adding that Kick “does not tolerate illegal activity, which is why we reacted quickly.” Take action to ban this creator from the platform.”

Upon reviewing Kick, Doherty's page has been removed and a 404 error is now displayed when visiting.

After the video of the crash spread online, many criticized the streamer for his reckless behavior and for focusing primarily on content. In a video posted shortly after the crash, Doherty can be seen screaming for help as people come to his aid. As the door opens, he pushes a camera into the hands of one of the people trying to help him and asks, “Can you hold that?” At another point, shortly after destroying his car, Doherty hands his phone to his Passenger who is bleeding profusely from the head and asks him to record what is happening.

Doherty purchased the now complete McClaren 570S in June 2023 for over $200,000. In this video he says he's “going to crash this car, mark my words.”

It's not the first time Doherty has been in trouble for a car accident. As NBC reported, Doherty filmed himself flipping an SUV in March, injuring his arm. In November 2023, he crashed the golf cart that his girlfriend was in and later apologized.
