The New York Jets are bringing back Haason Reddick after an offseason and several more months of drama.

Reddick was the only remaining holdout in the NFL. Early Sunday morning, the Jets and Reddick agreed to a revised contract, and he will report to the team on Monday.

Reddick was fired by his longtime agent and representatives at CAA last week after not working with the Jets for an entire season. Even when Robert Saleh was head coach, the Jets had expected Reddick and begged him to report to practice, and he simply never did, despite being fined every day.

After hiring Drew Rosenhaus as his new agent just days ago, the 30-year-old pass rusher finally agreed to report to the Jets after causing one of the NFL's biggest woes this season.

“Our goal is to continue to work toward a long-term contract extension with the Jets,” Rosenhaus told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Rapoport explains that Jets owner Woody Johnson was very involved in gaining Reddick's newfound approval. Just a few days ago, Johnson gave Reddick and Rosenhaus permission to pursue a trade. A trade away from the Jets was reportedly never even close to possible.

This saga has been going on since the first day of April and it wasn't an April Fool's joke. The Jets agreed to send a conditional draft pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for one of the game's best pass rushers. Reddick is in the final season of his three-year, $45 million contract and is seeking an extension. But we know how this game goes.

At first he did not volunteer for OTAs. Worrying after a big trade? Secure. However, the appearance of players is not mandatory and it sometimes happens that veterans are absent.

But when training camp began, the Jets raised the red flag for Reddick, who was placed on the reserve/non-reporting list on Aug. 25, the second day of training camp. On August 12, before training camp began, he requested a trade. General manager Joe Douglas publicly rejected this request.

When Reddick reports to the Jets on Monday, it will be his first time in the building. After pulling off all kinds of tricks, he returns to New York with a revised contract and hopes to return to the Big Apple in 2025 with a long-term contract.

Teams will be hesitant to give record-breaking money to a defenseman over 30 years old. Despite Reddick's impressive record of staying healthy and productive, teams simply won't be willing to pay headline-grabbing money to an aging player.

Despite their 2-4 record heading into Sunday Night Football against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Johnson's Jets deserve credit. In recent days, they've worked out a trade to reunite superstar receiver Davante Adams with Aaron Rodgers, which should rev up the offense.

One of the game's pass rushers, now on defense, will reluctantly step up to help New York advance to the playoffs in this loaded AFC.
