The Great Imitator, Halsey's fifth studio album, is scheduled for release on October 25th. Now the singer-songwriter has unveiled a new social media series in which she impersonates the musicians who inspired the upcoming album. First, Halsey paid homage to Dolly Parton, recreating the popular 1987 cover.

In a second post, Halsey shared a snippet of “Hometown” from the upcoming album, which was inspired by Parton. The country-tinged songs include the lyrics: “The American dream means staying young forever / And the picture in our brochure turns yellow with the weather / And years will pass since science class and I might forget your name / But when the crow's feet comes, comes the kingdom, well, you will always look the same“.

Back in June, the singer shared on social media that she had been diagnosed with lupus SLE and a rare lymphoproliferative T-cell disease in 2022. “Both are currently being treated or are in remission; and I will probably have both for the rest of my life,” she wrote in the caption of her post. “After a rocky start, thanks to the help of great doctors, I slowly got everything under control. After 2 years, I'm feeling better and more grateful than ever that I can rely on music. I can’t wait to get back where I belong: with all of you singing and screaming my heart out.”

Additionally, Halsey recently revealed the full tracklist for her upcoming fifth studio album, The Great Impersonator. The LP features previously released singles “Ego,” “The End,” “Lonely Is The Muse,” and “Lucky” and is scheduled for release on October 25th and is available to pre-order now. “The Great Imitator” will serve as the follow-up to 2021’s “If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power.”

In a four-star review of the 2021 LP: NME shared: “It almost goes without saying that this album is intense as hell and not exactly teeming with easy relief. It is also a complex and endlessly compelling artistic statement that only Halsey could have made.”

Halsey has since teased that her new album will be “all over the place” and “full of experimentation.”
