Wendie Malick reveals a sweet behind-the-scenes look shrinkage Set with co-star Harrison Ford.

The 73-year-old actress opened up about what it was like returning to the screen with the legendary actor, 82, in an interview with PEOPLE at the second season premiere of the Apple TV+ show. She explained that she and Ford had developed a sweet bond, Die Keep dreaming alum shared the ritual the couple performed while filming.

“He lets me ride around in his little golf cart that says 'Cowboy,'” she said. “He always picks me up and brings me on stage, which is very generous of him. But I have to say that he is simply one of the most loving, generous and funny leading men I have ever had.”

Malick also said that Ford acts as her personal sommelier, introducing her to some of the best wines and making her mixed drinks like “really wonderful tequila cocktails.” Think about when the Indiana Jones star was PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive in 1998, Malick adds that she understands why he's such a fan favorite.

“Harrison, I think the reason he has such lasting power, and it doesn't matter if he gets older and a little more wrinkled and gray-haired and stuff, is that little mischievous smile he has at everything he does,” she said. “That little dry sense of humor that's so compelling, and he doesn't take himself too seriously. I think there’s something very attractive about that.”

She continued, “He's not one of those people who says, 'Hey…' he's just like, 'I don't know. I don't even know how I got here. Who knows?'”

Now in the second season of the popular series, Malick said she and Ford have “built a good relationship,” making it easier to portray love interests on screen.

“That happened pretty much immediately, but then coming back last season was really interesting because we got into my backstory a little bit and our relationship changed when I couldn't be his doctor anymore while we were seeing each other.” she explained, referring to her character Dr. Julie Baram, who has a romantic relationship with Ford's Dr. Paul Rhoades sets up after he becomes her patient following a Parkinson's diagnosis.

“What I love about this show is that it reflects what so many of us go through, dealing with unexpected loss and health challenges and how you choose your family at a certain age,” she added. “It’s not so much about the blood people, but more about the friends you want in your life.”

Malick also stars in the new Hallmark+ show The chicken sisters, where she plays Augusta “Gus” Moore, the owner of Mimi's Fried Chicken Restaurant. Talking about how she prepared for the role, which comes from a book of the same name, she said that she was able to take parts of the character and add her own touch to it.

“They just gave me their description and moved it from the best-selling novel to a fictional southern town,” she explained. “But when I read the townspeople's descriptions of her, it was always like she was some kind of witch, and she was kind of mean, so-and-so old, and I just thought, 'Maybe she's like an old hippie and… “She's a hoarder.” And I thought, 'Okay, can she wear overalls and men's boots and just be almost androgynous, but with this long, steel-gray hair?' And I just really enjoyed that.”

She then joked: “So it was the easiest hair, makeup and wardrobe I've ever had.”
