Here's how to watch the 2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony

Rock and Roll's biggest night is back as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation will welcome its inductees for the Class of 2024. The newest class includes iconic names like Cher, Ozzy Osbourne, A Tribe Called Quest and even a Nashville educator and world-renowned saxophonist, Jeff Coffin.

The event will take place on October 19th at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to standout performances, the evening will also be filled with numerous special appearances from guests such as Jelly Roll, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney and more.

“Rock and roll is an ever-evolving blend of sounds that influences culture and moves generations,” John Sykes, chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said in a statement. “This diverse group of newcomers have each broken musical barriers and influenced countless artists who have followed in their footsteps.”

Vanderbilt University professor inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2024. “Dreams actually do come true!”

Recent additions include Jeff Coffin, a member of the legendary Dave Matthews Band since 2009 and a professor at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music.

Coffin, who serves as an adjunct instructor in jazz saxophone, is internationally recognized and a three-time Grammy Award winner, according to his instructor profile at Vanderbilt University. Coffin began touring with the Dave Matthews Band in 2008 and officially joined the group a year later following the death of founding member LeRoi Moore.

“What an incredible moment to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with my Dave Matthews Band brothers!” Coffin said in a statement from Europe, where the band is currently on tour. “We do what we do not because of the awards or accolades, but because of the music, but to be recognized by our peers is truly a great honor.”

“I am excited to represent Vanderbilt and our amazing Blair School of Music and remind our students that dreams do indeed come true!”

“We are so proud of Jeff and the band for this achievement, Jeff's deep commitment to music education and his incredible ambassadorship for Vanderbilt and the Blair School,” said Ryan Middagh, director of the Blair Jazz Program.

When will the 2024 Rock and Roll Hall Opening Ceremony take place? Here's how to watch

The 2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 19th at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio.

The ceremony will be broadcast live on Disney+ at 6:00 p.m. Central Time and will be available to stream following the ceremony. ABC will air a highlights special on Wednesday, January 1, which will also be available to stream on Hulu and Disney+ the next day.

Who are the 2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees?

The Class of 2024 includes a diverse range of 16 artists, musicians and other industry professionals who have shaped and influenced music over the years. They are listed below in their respective categories as defined by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.

Artist category: This category honors artists who have created music whose originality, impact and influence changed the course of rock & roll.

  • Kool & The Gang
  • Ozzy Osbourne
  • A tribe called Quest

Musical Influence Award: This category honors artists whose music and performance style have directly influenced, inspired, and advanced rock and roll and the music that influences youth culture.

Award for Musical Excellence: This award is given to artists, musicians, songwriters and producers whose originality and influence in the creation of music has had a dramatic impact on music.

Ahmet Ertegun Prize: This award is given to outstanding industry professionals who have had a major impact on the creative development and growth of rock & roll and music that has impacted youth culture.

Who will make special appearances at the 2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony?

The 2024 Induction Ceremony is expected to be a star-studded event with a diverse lineup of special guests who will introduce, perform and honor the newest crop of inductees. New additions include Mary J. Blige, Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner and more.

“Every year, the biggest names in music, film and culture take the stage at our ceremony to pay tribute to the iconic newcomers whose music has shaped generations,” said Sykes. “These are once-in-a-lifetime moments that you will remember forever.”
