Huskers halftime review – Huskers are a bit of a joke!: INDIANA 28 NEBRASKA 7

Huskers halftime review – Huskers are a bit of a joke!: INDIANA 28 NEBRASKA 7

Resplendent in their glorious Surrender Whites, Nebraska came out, laid an egg worthy of a T-Rex, and marched back to the locker room trailing 28-7.

Facing by far the best offense since Matt Rhules' signing, the Blackshirts were in serious danger as they rushed for 343 yards while the Hoosiers marched down the field at will with TD drives of 75, 88, 75 and 74 yards.

After Indiana's first touchdown drive, the first half came down to the ensuing kickoff return as Jacori Barney invoked the spirit of Cam-Taylor Britt and his botched punt return in 2021 against Illinois by collecting the kick and throwing it at The Huskers went out of bounds at the 1-yard line. The Huskers gained 12 yards and hit a punt to Indiana, with the return encroaching into Huskers territory. The Blackshirts held on there, but that was as far as they put up a fight in the first half.

Nebraska was driving downfield and appeared to be headed for a tie until Dante Dowdell fumbled at the 12 to end the drive. Trailing 14-0, Raiola was thrown into turmoil when the Huskers didn't huddle and Jacory Barney scored the winning goal to make it 14-7. Unfortunately, they responded to two Hoosiers scores with two 3-and-outs.

To add insult to injury, Rutgers hero Brian Buschini sank a 25-yard punt just before halftime. As time expired, Malcom Hartzog grabbed a Hail Mary from Kurtis Rourke, but that was no consolation.

Can the Huskers pull off a miraculous turnaround in the second half? Anything is possible and I hope Railoa's foot is uninjured and his arm is loose.
