I was matched with a Hollywood star for a round of golf on vacation… and he covered my entire weekend bill

A random act of kindness from a stranger—and a Hollywood star at that—gave a Reddit user a story that will stay with them for a lifetime.

In a now-deleted post on the social media site's r/golf subreddit, a person describes their encounter with a comedy icon when they joined him for a round of golf in Canada's island province of Nova Scotia.

“A friend of mine went to Cabot Cape Breton for a weekend trip and was matched with a single golfer,” the r/golf post reads.

“Adam Sandler was waiting for them at the tee!” They said he was super cool, and when they checked out at the end of the trip they learned that he had covered their entire weekend bill.

This post exploded on the site with nearly 1,400 upvotes and over 80 comments.

The encounter took place on a golf course in majestic Cape Breton on the island of Nova Scotia

Sandler is perhaps more focused on golf now than ever as he prepares for a sequel to his popular film Happy Gilmore.

Speaking to Audacy's “92.3 The Fan” in March, Christopher McDonald – the actor who played Happy Gilmore's rival, gunman McGavin in the film – said he came across Sandler by chance and had a first draft of the script for saw the sequel.

Sports icons – like Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce – and golf stars like Paige Spiranac have been linked to the project.

There is no information yet about a planned release date for the film.
