India Defeated 221 for 9 (Reddy 74, Rinku 53, Taskin 2-16). Bangladesh 135 for 9 (Mahmudullah 41, Varun 2-19, Reddy 2-23) for 86 runs

The Bangladesh spinners suffered in both comparisons. Their fast bowlers bowled 12 overs for 102 runs, but the spinners conceded 116 in their eight runs. And then the Indian spinners added even more with nine overs for just 49 runs and five wickets.

India has problems at the beginning

After a toss that didn't seem to matter – Bangladesh said it wanted to use the dew that came later to its advantage and chase, India said it wanted to bat first to test its bowlers in the dew – Bangladesh opened the bowling with Mehidy Hasan Miraz, whose arm pads were either too full or too short and were picked apart by Sanju Samson. However, on a sticky surface, the fast bowlers managed to attract misbehavior. Samson and Suryakumar Yadav fell into control throws due to the slowness of the pitch and Abhishek Sharma kept playing and tried to dupe Tanzim Hasan.

Rinku was the only one who could play smoothly from the start. Reddy got away twice in the early stages of his innings. When Litton Das dropped it on the leg side of Tanzim, Reddy moved to 6 from 4 and he was 19 from 14 when he survived an extremely close LBW umpire's call on impact on a reverse sweep. That 19 included a six from a free-kick thanks to a no-ball from Mahmudullah.

Rishad Hossain is a promising legspinner, especially in T20 cricket. But against a Rinku intent on all sorts of sweeps, he bowled his fifth ball wide and was swept with six balls to spare. And then Mahmudulllah offered the free kick. In his second over, Rishad made a length error on either side. Reddy brought him down for two sixes before Rinku pulled him for one. This 24-run over took India over 100 in 10 overs.

After that, only Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman managed an over without a boundary. Mehidy suffered the worst punishment as he was unable to dislodge Reddy from bat and bowled in his wheelhouse for 26 runs in the 13th over. It was 100 in his second game, but a slower ball from Mustafizur overwhelmed him and sent him 74 out of 34.

This was the right time for Bangladesh to hit an over-spin but Hardik Pandya made no concessions to Rishad's length error. Rinku may have looked like a silent partner in the carnage, but he reached his fifty at almost two a ball.

While India kept losing wickets in search of quick runs, Rishad got a break and managed to bowl the final over for just eight runs. To stay alive in the series, Bangladesh still needed to achieve the highest T20I total score.
