The most difficult shots in cricket are arguably those played directly over or around the stumps, and perhaps it is no coincidence that they are also the most aesthetically pleasing to look at. Sarfaraz Khan added one of the best examples of this on Friday with a Sachin-like uppercut for four.

India still had a high mountain to climb when Sarfaraz Khan went into bat at 95/2 in the second innings at the Chinnaswamy Stadium as they faced a huge first innings deficit of 356 runs. But as Virat Kohli fired powerfully at the other end, the youngster appeared unfazed under pressure and showed his authority in the game with a series of shots, including an impressive dive over the keeper's head in the 27th over.

Sarfaraz had already uppercut O'Rourke for a maximum past point a few times before, but the big right-arm quick persisted with the short length, hoping to catch the batsman with a sharp dive in at some point to bring distress. He almost implemented his plan when the last ball of the over came back sharply after the pitch and moved sharply towards Sarfaraz's body, putting him in all sorts of trouble. The Mumbai batsman initially seemed ready to evade the red cherry but at the very last moment, he tucked his bat across his chest from a kneeling position so that his knees almost touched the ground. To everyone's surprise, the SG hit the Willow right in the sweet spot and flew with confidence over To Latham to the boundary.

Twitterati loved the quality of the shot and took to social media to express their admiration.
