The Zodiac Killer is one of the most confusing characters of the last 50 years and still inspires many questions, theories and obsessions. The serial killer linked to several murders in Northern California in the late 1960s has been the subject of countless books, films and television shows. “Zodiac was different,” Rita Williams, a former KTVU reporter, says in the trailer. “He got away with it.”

Over the course of their decades-long investigation, police have publicly identified only one suspect in the Zodiac Killer case, Arthur Leigh Allen, but have never found enough evidence to charge him. This is the zodiac speaking revisits the case with never-before-seen evidence and interviews with people who knew Allen, a former elementary school teacher and convicted sex offender.

The series includes archival footage as well as interviews with local television reporter Williams, who met with Allen in an on-camera interview before his death in the early 1990s, and investigative reporter Robert Graysmith, who covered the case extensively in his book 1986 Zodiac. Allen's former students and surviving friends of the Zodiac victims are also interviewed.

But the focus of the docuseries is on the Seawater family, who say Allen played an important role in their youth by caring for them and taking them on trips. “We realized we had been to all the murder scenes before the murders,” David Seawater says in the trailer. Even law enforcement has never seen what the now-grown Seawater children will share.
