Is Wendy's SpongeBob SquarePants Krabby Patty worth eating?

Is the SpongeBob SquarePants Krabby Patty menu from Wendy's worth it? A popular food TikToker reviewed it for her viewers, calling it “a sloppy, boring collab.”

Paramount and Wendy's collaborated to launch the Krabby Patty meal on October 8 in honor of SpongeBob SquarePants' 25th anniversary.

There have been rumors about the collaboration for a long time, but fans were eagerly waiting for the official confirmation and its cancellation. But is it worth the hype?

If you ask foodie Jes (@jes_foodie), who has 30,000 followers, she would tell you no.

Jes, who had “big expectations” for the food, says she was disappointed by it. She reviewed it in a TikTok that received 667,000 views.

“First of all, why do they give it to you in a bag like that?” she asks, referring to Wendy's regular to-go bag.

Jes wanted the food to be served in a thoughtfully designed Krabby Patty style container.

Then she takes the fries and the burger out of the bag. Both come in the usual Wendy's packaging.

“To be honest, I’m a bit disappointed with the presentation. Like, brother. It's a Krabby Patty. Where are the seeds?” she says, referring to the burger bun.

The iconic Krabby Patty consists of a secret vegetarian patty with cheese, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion, ketchup and mustard between two sesame seed buns.

The Wendy's version features “a quarter pound of fresh, never frozen Wendy's beef,*** two slices of melted American cheese, crisp lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion and a top secret crab collapsible sauce on a premium toasted bun.” according to a press release.

After biting into the burger, Jes shrugs.

“It's a Wendy's burger with the special sauce,” she says. “I feel like I expected a little more.”

On the other hand, she likes the Under the Sea Pineapple frosty. “It’s good,” she says.

The Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty consists of a Vanilla Frosty with a pineapple and mango flavored puree.

The score?

“Honest rating: about 3 out of 10,” says the content creator before explaining her low rating. “First of all, it’s SpongeBob. You all have to go all out. …No thought was given to the packaging. The burger was good. It’s a Wendy’s burger, but you have to make it stand out.”

Viewers agree

Jes' video has been viewed over 667,000 times. Viewers agreed the meal was a disappointment and thanked Jes for saving them money.

“I (would have) expected them to go all out with the packaging, bags, etc.,” one viewer wrote.

“It's just Dave's Double Burger,” commented a second.

The Dave's Double, according to the website, consists of “half a pound* of fresh British beef, American cheese, crisp lettuce, tomato, cucumber, Heinz ketchup, Heinz mayonnaise and onions on a toasted bun.”

“I don't go to Wendy's but because of SpongeBob I wanted to go but now I'm not,” a third shared.

“Thank you for your review! I’m saving money now this is annoying, I was really excited,” wrote a fourth.

The cost of the meal varies by location, but Jes says she paid $13 for it.
