J. Cole addresses the retreat from the feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar in a new track

J. Cole surprised fans with his latest single, “Port Antonio,” in which he expresses his decision to exit the ongoing feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. In the track, Cole gives insight into his motivations, explaining that he realized where the situation was going and decided to back off. “I pulled the plug because I saw where this was going, they wanted blood, they wanted clicks to grow their pockets,” he raps, suggesting the conflict was fueled by outside forces for profit and to attract attention.

Cole emphasizes that his decision was more about maintaining relationships than engaging in a public argument. He continues, “I wouldn't have lost the fight, dog, I would have lost a brother, I would have gained an enemy,” emphasizing the personal cost the feud could have brought. The rapper also criticizes the manipulative tactics of using social media algorithms and bots to influence public opinion, stating: “Competing for cheap memes.”

In the same verse, Cole addresses Drake directly, reaffirming their friendship despite the tensions: “Hey Drake, you'll always be my n***a/ I'm not ashamed to say you've done a lot for me.” The verse reflects Cole's reluctance to allow industry pressures to affect his relationship with either artist, choosing instead to maintain respect.

This new single highlights J. Cole's attitude and his refusal to be drawn into the feud, prioritizing personal integrity over public spectacle
