Jared McCain of the Sixers leaves the game after a serious fall and is evaluated for a concussion

Well, this preseason hasn't been particularly good for the Sixers. For the second time in a row, someone had to retire due to injury.

Tonight it was Jared McCain who took that very bad fall late in the fourth quarter.

McCain took a long time to sit up and appeared to be breathing heavily as he was helped back to the locker room. The team has already provided an update and stated that he is being evaluated by medical staff, including concussion tests.

Nick Nurse gave a more recent update in his postgame press conference, telling reporters that McCain was on his way to the hospital to be checked out.

“I thought he might have lost his breath,” Nurse said, “(I'm) not entirely sure what was going on, but I've never seen anything like that.”

Obviously the team won't know until McCain undergoes further testing, but hopefully it was the magnitude of that fall that knocked the wind out of him.
