Jay Cutler rammed another car and tried to flee the scene before being arrested for driving under the influence

Jay Cutler was reportedly involved in a car accident shortly before his arrest for drunk driving.

The former NFL star was tailgating another car in downtown Franklin, Tennessee, on Thursday night and allegedly tried to flee the scene before police arrived, Franklin police said in a statement to Page Six on Friday .

According to the police report, Cutler allegedly offered the other driver $2,000 if he didn't call police.

When officers arrived at the scene, police claimed Cutler's eyes were “bloodshot” and he was saying “slurred words.” They also claimed that the reality TV star smelled “a strong odor of alcohol.”

Additionally, the arresting officer wrote in the police report that he noticed Cutler “staggered, swayed, and was heavy-footed while walking” and spoke “thick-tongued, slurred, and mumbled.”

The officer then asked Cutler how much alcohol he had consumed that night, to which the “Very Cavallari” star replied, “None.” However, he later admitted to drinking “a little bit,” according to the police report.

The former athlete, who shares three children with his ex Kristin Cavallari, also denied being involved in a car accident. However, police reported a “small dent in the rear” of the other vehicle at the scene of the accident.

In addition to the DUI arrest, Cutler was arrested for weapons possession, failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision and violating the implied consent law.

The father of three was booked into the Williamson County Jail and released later that night on $5,000 bail.

Representatives for Cutler did not immediately respond to Page Six's request for comment.
