Jeff Lynne's ELO lets love shine one last time at Little Caesars Arena – Macomb Daily

“Here's another one you might know,” Jeff Lynne told fans at the start of his Jeff Lynne's ELO concert at Little Caesars Arena on Wednesday night, October 9th.

For Jeff Lynne fans, ELO is a living thing again

Do you believe?

In the 54 years since co-founding the Electric Light Orchestra in England, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has assembled a series of enduring tunes that made Wednesday's show – part of Lynne's Over and Out farewell tour – almost a veritable jukebox of favorites have completely from the 70s. The 95-minute, 19-song performance featured more bona fide hits than the Detroit Tigers-Cleveland Indians game, which ended not long before Lynne and Co.'s performance, a fat-free exercise in giving the near-capacity crowd exactly what it wanted.

Additionally, mention must be made of Lynne's extensive resume as a producer (George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, etc.), celebrated with selections played over the PA between Rooney's well-received 40-minute opener power-pop set and ELO's Arrival.

There were visual elements to enhance the proceedings – lots of lasers and extensive visual production, which included a large, circular replica of the ELO flying saucer with a video screen in the middle, and accompanied the songs with a series of animated creations. But the greatest joy of the evening was the music, carefully recreated by a 13-piece band whose composition – up to four guitars, three keyboards, three strings – covered every nuance and texture of the arrangements with record-breaking accuracy and was propelled forward by Donavan Hepburn's monster drums .
