Joe Burrow #2; Jayden Daniels is knocking on the top 5 door

Statistics for 2024: 5 games | 65.6 percent | 1,374 pass meters | 8.8 years per year | 6 pass TD | 4 INT | 108 rush yards | 0 rush TD | 4 fumbles

First, the good from the loss to Arizona in Week 5: Purdy finally rekindled his connection with Brandon Aiyuk, hitting the receiver six times for 115 yards in the first half. Purdy also engineered a series of long drives that suggested the 49ers were on their way to victory – but he had a hard time finishing them off with touchdowns. None of his interceptions were entirely his fault: one was deflected at the line of scrimmage, while the other was due to Jalen Thompson hitting him while throwing. However, Purdy hasn't been as sharp as usual, underscoring the strange position the 49ers have found themselves in over the last five weeks. The defeat wasn't at his expense, but a final line of 19 out of 35 doesn't match his usual performances either.

THURSDAY EVENING UPDATE: Purdy delivered another fine performance in prime time, dancing around the pocket early while looking downfield and ultimately completing 18 of his 28 passes for 255 yards (a strong 9.1 yards per attempt). Sharp throws to George Kittle on third down led to two of his three touchdown passes in a fine night for the quarterback in a 36-24 win over the rival Seahawks.
