Rich said KISD hired Fort Worth-based Huckabee Architects as the architect for this district-wide project in January 2023. Since then, all sites have been audited to calculate the size and scope of the project. Requests for competitive sealed bids were received in August with a September 25 deadline.

Rich said a team of district staff reviewed the proposals and evaluated them based on specifics such as price, general experience, technical expertise and quality assurance. Epic Solar Control, LLC. took first place in the ranking in this and other categories with 98.75 out of 100 possible points.

The total bid of $2,087,241.50 includes a project contingency allowance of $200,000.

The entire project will be funded with money from the Safety Standards Formula Grant and the Safety and Facilities Enhancement Grant, officials said.

No timeline or completion date for this project was given at Tuesday's meeting.
