Lakers vs Warriors Preview: Injury Report, TV Stream, How to Watch

The Lakers and Warriors will grace the entertainment capital of the world when they face off for the first time on Tuesday in Las Vegas. This will be the first of two meetings between these two teams this week.

After picking up their first win of the preseason against the Milwaukee Bucks, the Lakers look to continue building momentum ahead of the regular season, which begins exactly a week on Tuesday.

Given that the Lakers and Warriors will face each other four times in the regular season – including once on Christmas Day – Tuesday's game is the perfect opportunity to see how the purple and gold take on this new-look Warriors team .

The Warriors are always an interesting opponent to use as a benchmark because they play a certain style of basketball that requires a certain defensive system to beat them. This is the first time we've seen JJ Redick and his team take on Stephen Curry and the Warriors' always-intriguing motion offense.

Yes, I know it's preseason, but it's LeBron James, Steph Curry, Anthony Davis and Draymond Green in Las Vegas, so it's safe to assume they'll put on a show in at least the first two quarters.

The Dubs appear to be taking their pre-season seriously as they have won their first four games. They are shooting 40% from the 3-point line in the preseason, which can be attributed to their well-thought-out moves on offense. The question heading into this game is how Los Angeles will contain the Warriors' offense and whether their own offense is good enough to keep up.

After all, Redick said he wants the Lakers to shoot more threes and play a systematic movement offense. So it would be ideal to see the purple and gold beat the Warriors at their own game.

It will also be nice to see more progress on the Lakers' side, particularly in rebounding, where they struggled mightily last season, and on defense. It's preseason again, but the early results are encouraging as the Lakers sit seventh in the league in rebounds after three games. Hopefully this is an early trend that we can see in the regular season.

Apart from being able to watch the superstars perform, this game is also an opportunity for the young talents in the team to really give it their all. How will Dalton Knecht hold up defensively against a fierce offense? Can Quincy Olivari put on a show for the second game in a row? Can Jalen Hood-Schifino prove that he is worth trying out for the starting team? After a slow start, can Bronny James finally put in a decent game?

We'll get the answers to all of these questions after Tuesday's game in Las Vegas.

Notes and updates

  • Jarred Vanderbilt (foot surgery), Christian Wood (knee surgery) and Christian Koloko (not cleared per NBA protocol) are all likely to miss this game.
  • Austin Reaves (ankle soreness) sat out Thursday's win over the Bucks and his status remains uncertain in that game as it is considered day-to-day.
  • Andrew Wiggins (illness), Draymond Green (rest) and Stephen Curry (finger) were unfit for their final preseason game against the Detroit Pistons. According to ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk, Wiggins is expected to play against the Lakers. There is no word yet on the status of Green and Curry.
