Latest news on Russia-Ukraine war: Leaked video shows North Korean soldiers being equipped for war, Kiev claims

Zelensky signs cooperation agreement with Croatia

Ukraine has released a new video that purportedly shows dozens of North Korean recruits lining up to collect Russian military uniforms. The video confirms the use of Russian troops from Pyongyang in the conflict, Kiev claims.

In the video, North Korean soldiers can be seen lining up to pick up bags, clothes and other items of clothing from Russian soldiers. “We received this video from our own sources. For security reasons, we cannot provide additional evidence from the sources they provided to us,” said Ihor Solovey, head of the Ukrainian Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security.

This came as Defense Secretary John Healey hit back at Russia, saying it was the only country at war in Ukraine, while rejecting the Russian ambassador to the UK's claim that Britain was engaged in a proxy conflict.

Russia previously said four of its firefighters were injured in a Ukrainian drone strike on a large explosives factory and airfield deep inside Russia.

About 10 drones targeting the city in multiple waves and from different directions were destroyed, Mr. Popko said. While none of the weapons hit their target, at least one man was injured by falling debris, he added.

Ukraine releases video showing North Korean soldiers in Russia

Ukrainian officials have released a video purportedly showing dozens of North Korean recruits lining up to collect Russian military uniforms.

The video confirms the use of Russian troops from Pyongyang in the conflict, they claimed.

“The video clearly shows North Korean citizens receiving Russian uniforms at the direction of the Russian military,” he said.

“For Ukraine, this video is important because it is the first video evidence showing that North Korea is participating in the war on the side of Russia. Now not only with weapons and grenades, but also with personnel.”

The center claims the recordings were made by a Russian soldier in recent days. It did not say how the footage was obtained. The location is unknown.

Russian troops storm a town in eastern Ukraine, bloggers say

Russian forces are engaged in street battles with Ukrainian troops on the outskirts of the eastern Ukrainian town of Selydove, military bloggers reported.

“There are street fights in the city,” said Yuri Podolyaka, a prominent Ukrainian-born pro-Russian military blogger. “The attack on Selydove has intensified.”

Other pro-Russian bloggers published a video about the intense shelling of Selydove. Reuters was not immediately able to verify the footage. The Russian Defense Ministry did not comment.

The Ukrainian military's General Staff said in a late evening report yesterday that Ukrainian forces repelled 41 Russian attacks around several towns and villages, including Selydove. According to the report, four battles were still raging in the area.

The popular Ukrainian war blog DeepState showed that Selydove was in Ukrainian hands.

According to pro-Russian bloggers, Moscow's forces are pushing to take control of the entire Donbass region.

The Ukrainian military denies Russian advances in Khasiv Yar

Putin's troops have failed to “gain a foothold” in the war-torn town of Khasiv Yar despite claims of Russian advances.

Anastasia Bobovnikova, a spokeswoman for the Luhansk operational tactical group, said Kiev Independent: “I do not confirm the fact that Russian troops managed to gain a foothold in the canal… or anywhere in the direction of Chasiv Yar.

“The overall strategic position of the city remains under the control of Ukraine.”

This came after war monitoring crowdsourcing website DeepState reported on October 17 that Russian forces had made advances.

Bobovnikova explained that groups of Russian soldiers have occasionally crossed the canal and attacked Ukrainian positions, adding: “However, such maneuvers are accompanied by significant losses for the Russians. “The Ukrainian armed forces quickly repel such attacks and push back Russian units.”

Watch: Moment of reunification of Ukrainian prisoners of war with their families

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shared a video of the moment Ukrainian prisoners of war (POWs) returned home to their families.

In a post on X he said: “95 of our people are back home. These are the warriors who defended Mariupol and “Azov Valley”, as well as the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Kiev, Chernihiv and Kherson regions.

“Every time Ukraine rescues its people from Russian captivity, we move closer to the day when freedom will be returned to all those still in Russian captivity.

“I thank the team involved in the search and rescue of prisoners. We are doing everything we can to bring back all of our people held by Russia. I am grateful to the warriors who are replenishing the exchange fund and to all of our partners who are helping us.”
