Lee Pace joins Glen Powell as villain in The Running Man

Lee Pace, who memorably played the villain Ronan in Marvel Studios Guardians of the Galaxyis back in villain mode.

The actor has signed with Glen Powell, Josh Brolin and Katy O'Brian (Love lies bleeding) In The running manParamount's adaptation of the Stephen King novel.

Edgar Wright directs the feature film and co-wrote the screenplay with Michael Bacall. The production is scheduled to film in London early next year.

King's Running ManPublished in 1982 and written under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, it is set in 2025 in an America under a totalitarian regime that uses violent game shows to appease the disenfranchised masses.

The novel focuses on a desperate man who needs money for his sick daughter and joins the most popular show. The running manin which killer teams hunt participants. The longer a participant survives, the more money that person earns. But as the game show's producers and killers will discover, this desperate man will break all the rules and expose the show's dark secrets.

Powell plays this desperate man. Brolin will play the game show's unscrupulous producer, while O'Brian will play one of the show's contestants.

Pace is essentially the main character of the film. He plays the brutal head hunter for the network that broadcasts the game shows and is tasked by the producer with tracking down Powell's character.

Paramount will release the film on November 21, 2025. Simon Kinberg, Nira Park and Wright are the producers.

In 2014, Pace portrayed the colorful Marvel villain Ronan the Accuser Guardian and took over the role for billion-dollar sales in 2019 Captain Marvel. The actor starred in AMC's drama in the mid-2010s Stop and catch fire and more recently was one of the stars of Apple TV's ambitious science fiction series Foundationwhich is entering its third season.

He is represented by WME and Peikoff Mahan Law.
