Legendary musical group will attend Mets' NLCS game and perform star player's walk-up song live

Legendary musical group will attend Mets' NLCS game and perform star player's walk-up song live

The New York Mets will host more live musicians for one of their stars.

In 2022, they invited Timmy Trumpet to perform his infamous “Narco” while closer Edwin Diaz left the bullpen.

Since 2020, Diaz has gone from bullpen to electronic dance music song.

Now, as they fight for a pennant, they will take care of their MVP Francisco Lindor.

The shortstop has spent most of the season tuning in to the Temptations' “My Girl” and leading a sing-along at numerous record appearances.

The Mets announced that the musical group will be in attendance at Game 5 of the National League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday to perform the song when Lindor comes to the plate.

New York went 18-13 in its last 31 games following Timmy Trumpet's performance two years ago, but lost to the San Diego Padres in the wild-card round. Then Diaz was injured celebrating the World Baseball Classic and missed the entire 2023 season.

Due to a series of unfortunate events, it was considered a joke that Timmy Trumpet cursed the Mets. Even this year, Diaz posted a 3.52 ERA, his worst since 2019, and he has been shaky since the start of the postseason.

But it would take a lot to stop Lindor, who will likely finish second to Shohei Ohtani in the National League MVP voting.

Lindor's grand slam in Game 4 of an NLDS put the Mets back in the championship series for the first time in nine years. It was a slow start for the shortstop, who hit .193 on May 20. But the Mets moved him to the leadoff spot, and from there he hit .309 with an OPS of .943.
