Like Ted Lasso and Bad Monkey? You should watch Shrinking on Apple TV+

Apple TV+ is home to a growing number of popular and critically acclaimed shows. One of these series, Bad Monkey, has just completed its first season. And the highly anticipated fourth season of TV+'s most popular series of all time, Ted Lasso, is just around the corner. If you enjoyed these shows, you should definitely check out Shrinking. Here's why.

It completes Bill Lawrence's TV+ trifecta

Believe it or not, Ted Lasso, Bad Monkey and Shrinking all have one thing in common: Bill Lawrence is one of the instrumental minds behind them all.

Lawrence is co-creator of all three series and was also showrunner in some capacity. Although each series has its own character, they all conform to the “comedy with emotional undertones” that Lawrence is known for. If you enjoyed Lasso and Monkey, Shrinking is probably your thing too.

Comedy by Harrison Ford

Harrison Ford in Shrinking

“Shrinking” is about a therapist, played by Jason Segel, who is a bit villainous in the way he counsels his clients. Segel's missteps provide comedic gold for Harrison Ford, a standout star of the series.

Ford plays Paul, Segel's boss and reluctant mentor. And in almost every scene he appears in, Ford makes me think that he's been a comedic actor his entire life. If you love Ford's work as an action star, you owe it to yourself to see a different side to his acting.

Season 2 is almost here

Exactly, the new season of “Shrinking” is just around the corner. Season 2 starts next Wednesday, October 16th. Now is the perfect time to dive in and watch the first season. There are 10 episodes, each lasting about half an hour, so there isn't too much catching up to do.

Bonus: Roy Kent

Roy Kent, Ted Lasso

Brett Goldstein, the man also known as Roy Kent, is a key creative force behind Shrinking. He is a co-creator alongside Lawrence, a role that grew out of the pair's work on “Ted Lasso.” It turns out that Goldstein will also be making a guest appearance on the new season of Shrinking, in a role that's completely different than anything we've seen from him before.

Shrinking: Summary and Next Steps

I haven't said much about what Shrinking is actually about, but trust me, if you liked Ted Lasso and Bad Monkey, Shrinking is a safe bet. Although I would warn you that the first episode is a little depressing, it quickly turns around and brings a healthy dose of heart and humor.

However, if you want to know all the actual details, you can watch the trailer here. Apple's summary of the series can be found here.

Shrinking is available to watch on Apple TV+.
