Listeria recall: Throw away these 11 chicken products from Walmart, Trader Joe's, Aldi and others as soon as possible

A precooked meat manufacturer that announced a recall last week is expanding its recall to include ready-to-eat foods containing poultry sold at grocery stores such as Walmart, Trader Joe's and Aldi.

Meat supplier BrucePac initiated the recall after routine testing showed evidence of listeria contamination in 10 million pounds of meat, including ready-to-eat poultry products.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service first sounded the alarm about the recall on Oct. 9.

Further testing revealed that BrucePac Ready-to-Eat Chicken could be found in several products on retailer shelves, including one at Costco.

There are currently no illnesses or side effects associated with the recall. However, federal officials may have concerns that products containing the recalled chicken could be in restaurants, institutions or in consumers' freezers.

According to the USDA, the recalled products were distributed to the following retailers:

  • Trader Joe's
  • Costco
  • Walmart
  • Aldi
  • Goal
  • HEB
  • Giant eagle
  • Kroger

The recalled products are also associated with well-known brand names such as:

  • Jenny Craig
  • Atkins
  • Select signature
  • Boston Market
  • Amazon Fresh
  • Michelinas
  • Raos
  • Dole

The BrucePac recall includes these ready-to-eat items:

  1. Red's Grilled Chicken & Cheddar Burrito, with lot code SD4271 and a best before date of March 27, 2026.
  2. Great Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo with batch number 24225 and a best before date of August 12, 2025.
  3. Jenny Craig Classic Chicken Carbonara, with lot code 24243 and a best before date of February 21, 2026.
  4. Trader Joe's BBQ Flavored Chicken Salad, with various best by dates between September 29, 2024 and October 15, 2024.
  5. Atkins Chicken & Broccoli Alfredo, with product code J4281 and best before date October 7, 2025.
  6. Boston Market Chicken Fajita Rice Bowl, with product code J4268 and a best before date of September 24, 2025.
  7. Michelina's Chicken Fried Rice, with product code J4239 and a best before date of August 26, 2025 or product code J4270 and a best before date of September 26, 2025.
  8. Good & Gather Chicken Tikka Masala, with batch code SO58227 and a best before date of February 28, 2026.
  9. Taylor Farms Caesar Salad With Chicken, with establishment number 34013 and a best before date of on or before October 12, 2024.
  10. Giant Eagle Fiesta Chicken Salad Bowl, with company number 21794 and a best before date of on or before October 11, 2024.
  11. Amazon Fresh Cobb Salad With Chicken & Bacon, with company number 34013 and a best before date on or before October 11, 2024.

Consumers are urged not to eat the product but instead to throw it away or return it to the place where they purchased it.
