Live updates: Israeli air strikes on Lebanon and Gaza, war with Hamas and Hezbollah

Israel's Foreign Minister Israel Katz attends a meeting in Jerusalem on October 7.

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said his ministry would take diplomatic and legal action against France after Paris decided to ban Israeli companies whose weapons are used in Gaza and Lebanon from attending a key naval warfare exhibition.

He said that the boycott of Israeli companies “constitutes anti-democratic measures by imposing unacceptable conditions that, in our eyes, are unacceptable, especially between friendly nations. I call on President Macron to cancel them completely.”

On its website, Euronaval says that “the organizers of the exhibition recognize the decision of the (French) National Defense and Security Council of October 1, 2024, which stipulates that Israeli companies wishing to participate in the Euronaval exhibition can do so. “

But it continues: “They are allowed to have a display stand provided their products are not used in military operations in Gaza and Lebanon.”

Remember: While France has supplied Israel with weapons in the past, the relationship between the two countries has become strained in recent weeks as French President Emmanuel Macron called for an end to arms exports to Israel in order to enforce a ceasefire in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.

On October 5, Macron called for a complete halt to the sale of weapons “used in the war in Gaza,” stressing that France was not involved in the supply.
