LSU football icon is pushing for LSU running backs coach job in the future

The current LSU team is going strong and it's hard to imagine any coaches leaving unless it's because of an offer for a head coach. There are numerous attractive options available to this personnel, both due to their track record on the ground and their track record in recruiting, where LSU excels.

One of the coaches who dominated in his second stint at LSU is running backs coach and associate head coach Frank Wilson. During his time at LSU, Wilson was the Tigers' ace on the recruiting trail, bringing in numerous recruits year after year and dominating in-state recruiting.

One of the elite talents Wilson once recruited, Leonard Fournette, has thrown his hat into the ring to become Wilson's heir, as Leonard Fournette tweeted about his goal of becoming LSU's running backs coach.

When it comes time to replace Wilson at some point, almost every LSU fan would be okay with hiring Fournette. Who better than Fournette to tell recruits that he knows what it takes to dominate at the college and NFL levels because he's done it himself. Fournette is one of the most popular LSU alumni and would immediately be a big hit with recruits across the country, particularly in Florida, where he played in the NFL.

If Fournette is serious about coaching one day, he should join the LSU staff in some capacity to gain some experience. JaCoby Stevens did something similar when he joined the team as a recruiting specialist, gaining experience to land a serious job with the team.
