Man City News: Opinion – Fan writer on Erling Haaland's advice to Mikel Arteta

And breathe.

Arsenal lose, Manchester City win and Pep Guardiola's side have maintained their unbeaten start to another exciting season – despite rumors that they were “shocked” and “shattered” by Mikel Arteta's side at the Etihad Stadium last month.

A famous man (Erling Haaland) once told the Arsenal manager, “Stay humble, hey,” and this weekend's results have proven to be a perfect encapsulation of such an instruction.

Another, not so famous man (me) also said that a team's ability to remain calm in the face of adversity would go a long way in determining which team would emerge victorious over the course of 38 games this season.

Bournemouth beat Arsenal, which again saw a man sent off, while City came from behind to beat Wolves, with John Stones again coming to the rescue.

As with numerous appearances in the first eight games, Manchester City were far from being at their best and their defense was at times flawed. But their persistence in sticking to their game plan and attacking Wolves' ten-man rearguard ultimately paid off and the celebrations after the goal showed what that meant.

Guardiola and City know that games and results mean little at this stage of the season and even looking at the Premier League table is pointless until around February.

“To be honest we don’t think about them (Arsenal),” said Jack Grealish after the win at Molineux. “Listen, if it were later in the season, maybe it could be considered a big weekend.” But it's October.

That will be City's attitude in a season that is guaranteed to be full of twists and turns. Focus on yourself, stick to your plan and most of all stay humble.

This is not an “unsettled” Manchester City team. This is a machine that delivers series wins and trophies that won't give up until the end – and certainly won't get carried away any time soon.
