Match preview: Hurricanes at Blues

The Carolina Hurricanes look to win their third straight game when they take on the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night at the Gateway to the West.

The Canes have two convincing intradivision victories: 4-2 against New Jersey on Tuesday and 4-1 against Pittsburgh on Friday.

Rookie winger Jackson Blake scored his second goal in as many games on Friday night, while the second line of Martin Necas, Jack Roslovic and Jesperi Kotkaniemi had their first productive contest of the season.

The Blues are off to a solid start to the season with a record of 3-2-0 in five games. St. Louis last played on Thursday night when it beat the New York Islanders 1-0 in overtime. The Blues have also picked up wins against the Seattle Kraken and the San Jose Sharks.

Jordan Kyrou is the Blues' best player this season with six points in five games. Kyrou will be the focal point of Carolina's defensive efforts tonight along with talented center Robert Thomas. Former Hurricane Justin Faulk also got off to a strong start with four points to his name.

This is the first of two meetings between these two teams this season. The second leg is scheduled for November 17th in Raleigh. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EST at the Enterprise Center. Mike Maniscalco and Tripp Tracy will take over the reins, which will initially be called Bally Sports South.
