Metaphor: ReFantazio has a job system called Archetypes that allows you to swap any of your party members for any archetype you want fairly freely. Although there are some requirements for using the expanded archetypes, you should swap archetypes frequently. In some cases, such as B. in certain side dungeons, there are certain archetypes that are recommended based on enemy weaknesses found there. However, you can also ignore this if you like your setup. The Knight is an excellent class that fits into many team compositions as the Knight is a great tank. Even if the Knight's piercing damage isn't effective against the enemies you're fighting, focusing on pure defense can keep your party alive against tough enemies.

Perhaps one of the best combinations in Metaphor, ReFantazio, the summoner and masked dancer duo, is incredibly powerful. The Masked Dancer gains access to abilities that inflict unique elemental weaknesses on enemies, and the summoner has access to the largest selection of elemental attacks in the game. This means you can weaken all of your enemies to a specific element, such as ice, and immediately perform a high-damage ice attack that hits all enemies, dealing major damage and giving you more turns. An important part of this competition is making sure you have the right vessels and masks to take advantage of it. Make sure to craft these items in Akademia whenever you have the materials.

Gunner with Gunner, Faker or Summoner

Physical damage from piercing is the least common of the three physical attack types. So if you're struggling with a dungeon with a large number of monsters with a weakness to Pierce, the Archer is your best choice. If another Gunner, Faker, or Summoner is present, you can use the Wild Barrage synthesis ability, which hits all enemies multiple times with piercing damage.

Berserker with knight

The Berserker has access to two impact damage synthesis abilities that deal massive damage as long as a Knight is present. These two abilities, Wanton Destruction and Battlecry Tackle, overlap with one archetype, namely the Knight. Insane Destruction in particular is great because it deals extreme physical strike damage and inflicts a one-time weakness on Strike. After the first use, the weakness allows you to use it continuously every turn without losing turn symbols. This makes it ideal for tough opponents with a lot of health.

The Trickster, the advanced version of the Faker, has access to an extremely physical all-powerful attack that consumes no MP. Almighty damage is a special type of damage that enemies cannot resist, but cannot be weak against. This makes it useful for enemies with no weaknesses, and this special move also doesn't consume MP, making it ideal for conserving MP in a long dungeon. To use this synthesis ability, you must have two allies with the correct archetypes. The first ally must be a Knight, Healer, or Commander, while the second ally must be a Thief, Forger, or Trader.

Thugs, traders, healers

The Brawler, Trader and Healer combination gives you access to some powerful omnipotent attacks from the Trader and several light attacks as well. Using the Merchant's all-powerful attacks does cost money, but that means they don't cost MP, a trade-off you may want to make late in Metaphor: ReFantazio. The powerful light attacks are great as your options for high damage light attacks are pretty limited.
