Mets vs. Dodgers Score, Live Updates: Back at home, Los Angeles looks to advance to the World Series in NLCS Game 6

After the Mets forced a Game 6 with their 12-6 Game 5 win over the Dodgers at Citi Field on Friday, the National League Championship Series is back in Los Angeles on Sunday, with the home team looking to end all hopes of one in New York World Series.

The Mets have Sean Manaea on the mound, and the left-hander has been strong for New York this postseason (2-0, 2.65 ERA, 17 strikeouts in 17 innings). The Dodgers have right guard Michael Kopech, who was traded to Los Angeles from the White Sox in July. This is the reliever's first time opening a game this October, but in 4 1/3 innings this postseason he has given up just one hit and zero runs and struck out six hitters.

If the Dodgers win Game 6, they will play in the World Series against the New York Yankees, who defeated the Cleveland Guardians in extra innings in Game 5 on Saturday. If the Mets win tonight, Game 7 of the NLCS will take place in Los Angeles on Monday. Anyway, Game 1 of the World Series is scheduled for Friday.

This probably wasn't how the Dodgers envisioned the start of Game 6.

  • Mets strike first!

Michael Kopech, a former starter and reliever, opened for the Dodgers, giving up a leadoff walk to Francisco Lindor, who took second on a wild pitch and advanced to third on a Brandon Nimmo groundout. A short hopper from Pete Alonso scored Lindor to put the Mets on the field.

  • Kodai Senga is expected to play a supporting role

Kodai Senga was not good in Game 1, giving up three runs on two hits and four walks in 1 1/3 innings. Still, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza expects Senga to pitch in relief in Game 6 – or Game 7.

Fox's Tom Verducci explained how Freddie Freeman's sprained right ankle is affecting his swing, which is why Dodgers manager Dave Roberts took him out of the Game 6 lineup.

  • Mets lineup, Game 6

The Mets are playing with the same lineup that scored 12 runs in Game 5.

Starting off is left-hander Sean Manaea. In Game 2, he allowed two runs over five innings with seven strikeouts and four walks.

  • Dodgers lineup, Game 6: Michael Kopech opens, Freddie Freeman sits

Reliever Michael Kopech will open a bullpen game for the Dodgers. He hasn't allowed a run in five postseason appearances.

First baseman Freddie Freeman will sit out Mets left-hander Sean Manaea and rest his sprained ankle. He is available for pinching.

Who, if any, will start Game 7? The Dodgers hope it doesn't come to that.
